So what does this mean for online fashion? Well, a lot. First of all, designers are making it easier than ever before for everyone to satisfy their desire for style through data analysis and visual technology. Today’s „dresses” can be found on Google Images or Pinterest if you search „dress” in your text box (see picture below). However, these sites have only limited information about the actual size and fit of each dress; they leave a lot out of their descriptions (such as fabric type and material), so you still have to know if an item.

Fashion, clothes and models are everywhere. According to the 2018 report from Deloitte, three out of four clothing brands surveyed generate 80% of their business from social media, with the majority of that coming from Instagram. In terms of generating traffic to their websites or blogs, fashion brands rely heavily on images rather than text.

This trend is starting to show in other industries as well: for example, financial services company Charles Schwab uses image-heavy content marketing to drive engagement and sales on its website. They want their customers to not just be curious about what they do; but also understand why they should care about things like mortgage rates and investment strategies.

The fashion industry is a very competitive and wide-spread industry. However, in recent years, the biggest players in this industry have been outsourcing their fashion business to third-party companies. These companies own brands that are so popular that they have become part of the mainstream. Their clothes are worn by many celebrities, athletes and people of all social classes.
